Miike Snow - Animal (Fake Blood Remix)

These dudes wrote Britney Spears Toxic!! Even if this track was a hodge-podge of animal noises with Garth Crooks providing a working commentary I'd still give this a chance, purely because of that fact. Well done to you, you faboulous Swedes and well done for this, it's rather good.

MPHO - Box N'Locks

I have lots a questions about this track. Wheres that riff from? Do I like this, I think I do? Is it just another Remi Nicole-esque disappointment in the offing? Is it any good? A soundtrack to the summer, or just another track, that you'll soon forget about? Lots of questions readers, and I need answers.

Ian Brown - Billie Jean

I don't own any Michael Jackson records, so it would be remiss of me to say he was such a fabulous artist, because if he was so fabulous I'd at least have some of his tunes. He did write a few catchy numbers, I will admit. This is one. Why not use the comments section to express complete ambivalence to someones death.
Yeah I know I said I'd start writing about some lesser known artists but, well I mean I think we can make an exception.
Oh and I've been actually using Google Analytics, people from San Francisco, New Delhi and Jo'Berg are reading this. Good day to you all.

Matt & Kim - Yeah Yeah (Flosstradamus Remix)

You wait all day for a bus to come, and then 2 arrive at the same time. 2nd remix of the week from me, and if you've ever watched Family Guy, theres a scene where Peter befriends Brians girlfriend Jillian. It's like a child with a Barbie Doll. Basically this song, is that whole episode, soundtracked by M83.
Oh and for those that asked, I've refreshed the link on the Chase & Status Remix, cheers for the comments, even the Troll Cunt.

Harlem Shakes - Sunlight

I think I've mentioned it before, but I have a fortnightly Band Of The Week type column going on over at Whispermag.co.uk and this week I featured The Harlem Shakes. I've just been buzzing of this track from their album Techicolour Health. It starts off like Bob Dylan's Hurricane and then sort of decends into great dreamy chorus, that for some reason reminds me of that rubbish American band with the bald lead singer, who went on to write for him from Boyzone.
Anyway, I had hoped that Boyzone would never get a mention in this blog. I've failed you all, and for that I apologise. I've been looking back at some of the posts lately and they all seem a bit erm....obvious, so I'm gonna try and post some less well known bands, and won't talk too much crap. So Win/Win for you all, I imagine.
Oh if anyone knows the name of that band, if you could leave it in the comments section puh-leeeze.

White Lies - Death (Chase & Status Remix)

Fuckin' hell I've been doing this blog for a year now, and I didn't even bother to mark it's birthday. Oh dear, FYI it would have been a Beatles song, had I remembered, maybe next year. Anyway it's been a while since I blogged about a remix, and this is a fuckin' epic effort. It starts off like.....Simple Minds, I think? And then just builds into something huge.
I saw White Lies a few in weeks ago, in Japan no less, and they were wicked, much better than I expected to be honest, considering this is what I thought about their album, and I'll be seeing them again soon, in fuckin' Benicassim!!!
So yeah, sorry the download version is a bit shit, if I find a better one I'll post it and I can also recommend the C&S remix of The Prodigy's Invaders Must Die. Colossal.....so yeah Happy (belated) Birthday AEADJ!!

Oasis - Man Of Misery

Usually when a popstar releases a clothing line I'm sceptical. However when Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher launches one I'm interested. I always thought Liam has had a pretty cool style, classic english, but a far cry from the lairy, laddish boys that seem to follow his band. So last week saw the launch of Pretty Green, the singing Gallaghers foray into high fashion, and to accompany it, I came across this track, Man Of Misery.
It doesn't stick around very long, much like a lot of the rockier tracks that R KID has contributed to previous Oasis albums, reminds me of....Meaning Of Soul and Nothin' On Me from their last album. I'm not 100% sure if it's a full Oasis collaboration, or whether it's something he's planning on putting out on his own, anyway he's come a long way from Little James. Hopefully the clobber is up to scratch too.
Be good to hear what people think of this, haven't seen it knocking around HypeM, and what about the clothing line, will it be a uniform for all the Liam-clones, or has it got what it takes to compete with other lines on the High St.?

Jay-Z - D.O.A.

New Jay-Z OMG!!! The Anti-Kanye, though produced by Mr. West, Jay-Z is back with Death Of The Autotune. Coming in a like a pissed up football fan, his flow is a tight as ever, though I'm still not convinced by the beat. Perhaps Kanyeezee is trying a bit of industrial sabotage?

Yeah I'm a bit hungover, can't be arsed going into any greater detail.

The Twang - Another Bus

I can't say I have been counting the days down to the release of the new Twang album. First time round they were quite simply the very definition of a band being hyped, and their effort fell a long way short. I had the good fortune of interviewing them last summer, and you could sort of see that the whole process had really fucked them off. While every band wants to get front page coverage for their debut, The Twang serve as a classic example of, well don't believe everything you read in the NME.
And so the Brummies return with sophmore effort Jewellery Quarter and this teaser, available as a free download from their website. The post-ecstacy cloudy-room euphoria of tracks from the first album like Either Way and Wide Awake has been replaced with Lee Mavers guitars and Michael Heads melodies. It's melancholic and thoughtful, I defy anyone who hasn't sat on a coach, driving through the countryside, and wonder if it's all worth it, it's a pretty universal theme.
Whether Another Bus, and the songs that will come after it on the new album will do enough to win back the buzz that surrounded the band little over 2 years ago remains to be seen.

Jamie T - Sticks & Stones

If I'm being honest, I'd forgotten just how good Jamie T's debut Panic Prevention was. Made in his bedroom, in my opinion it encapsulated the where DIY records are in the digital era. Promoting himself on Myspace, recording the whole thing in his shed, it was a beautiful record that had quality and variation throughout.
And so he's back with Sticks & Stones, and it's still fabulous. Lyrically, it's pure innocence, recounting tales of cheap cider, skanky slags, and teenage bravado, while musically, its steams along, not dissimilarly to the closing bars to If You Got The Money. While it may not be a massive departure from the first album, when the tune is this good, I really don't care.
Be good to get your thoughts on it below, sorry about the Zane Lowe bit at the end, well what can you do?
